The Expression column shows how Fluidity and Resistance become visible in the world.

FLUIDITY

Allowing
Making Room
Moving with What Is

RESISTANCE

Striving
Narrowing
Colliding
Fixating

These expressions make sense from the perception underneath them.

If more than one way of moving remains available, reality does not have to be forced into one exact form.

If only one path is acceptable, expression begins to tighten around protecting that path.

Allowing / Striving

Fluidity includes allowing.

Allowing does not mean doing nothing.

It means reality is permitted to participate in what happens next.

There can still be effort, intention, discipline, and persistence.

The difference is that action does not have to overpower what is actually happening.

Resistance can become striving when effort is used to maintain a required direction despite what reality is showing.

More effort is added because stopping, changing, or reconsidering feels unacceptable.

The effort itself is not the issue.

The issue is what the effort is serving.

Making Room / Narrowing

Fluidity can make room for more than one possibility.

An unexpected development can enter the field.

Another person's perspective can matter.

A different route can remain visible.

The original preference can coexist with alternatives.

Resistance narrows.

Attention increasingly organizes around the one acceptable outcome.

Other possibilities become less visible, less tolerable, or less relevant.

The field gets smaller.

Moving with What Is / Colliding

Fluidity moves with what is actually present.

This does not mean agreement with reality.

It means movement responds to reality as it currently exists.

Resistance collides with what is present when reality refuses to conform to the required direction.

The collision can appear as repeated friction:

This should not be happening.

This cannot be the way.

I have to make this work.

The system keeps meeting the same reality with the same requirement.

Fixating

Resistance can also become fixated.

One outcome, obstacle, person, problem, or route begins occupying more and more of the field.

Attention circles around it because the required movement cannot proceed until that thing changes.

Other possibilities recede.

This is not the same as concentration or commitment.

A person can focus intensely while remaining Fluid.

Fixation describes a narrowing in which movement has become organized around something that must change before anything else can happen.

Allowing Is Not Passivity

This distinction is important.

Fluidity is not passive.

It can act decisively.

It can work hard.

It can confront problems.

It can persist.

It can reject options that do not fit.

The difference is that reality remains part of the process.

Fluidity does not say:

Anything is fine.

It says:

I can keep moving with what is actually here.

Resistance says:

What is here must change before acceptable movement can continue.

That difference leads directly into the final column of the map:

Ease / Friction
